la proposta del architetto coreano Eun Young Yi è stata selezionata nel 1999 tra 235 concorsi come il progetto della nuova biblioteca centrale di Stoccarda.
I lavori sul palazzo da 80 milioni di euro( circa $ 108 mil. US) "Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz" hanno avuto inizio tre anni fa e l' apertura ufficiale è stata circa 30 giorni fa. Il palazzo è una ''libreria di parole'' ed è disponibile in quattro lingue sui muri esterni. Sul muro settentrionale in Tedesco (lingua locale) ovest in inglese (lingua franca), il sud in arabo (la lingua della conoscenza antica e di Cairo, la città sorella di Stoccarda) ed est in Coreano (la madre lingua di Yi).

The building of the 80-million Euro (about $108 mil. US) Stadtbibliothek am Mailänder Platz began three years ago and the opening ceremonies took place last month. As a cool nod to the fact that the building is a storehouse of words, the word “library” is installed in four languages on the outside walls. On the North wall in German (the local language), West in English (lingua franca), South in Arabic (the language of ancient knowledge and of Stuttgart’s sister city, Cairo) and East in Korean (Yi’s native language).
