Cicero once described Syracuse, an ancient town on the eastern coast of Sicily, as “the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all.” Today, it is home to One Hotel, whose design takes full advantage of the natural beauty and rich history of the UNESCO World Heritage site on which it stands.
One is built on a steel, L-shaped frame, with micro-holed plates forming a metallic cage around concrete walls. An elevated entranceway opens to an elegantly furnished lobby in which traditional reception desk has been replaced by two minimalist totem poles made of lacquered metal. From them, a long, lit runway leads to the fitness room, underground spa and clinical beauty area. Consisting of approximately 1,000 square metres divided into three highly contemporary spaces, this partially underground wellness area is excavated into the natural sea rock upon which the building stands and includes hydrotherapeutic pool, steam room, sauna, hammam and cascade shower. Above, a roof deck overlooks the Mediterranean waters, providing a stark contrast to the sushi bar and lounge restaurant inside, where an almost totally black colour scheme, dim lighting, crocodile leather vinyl walls and Marco Acerbis Fly Chairs set a more cosmopolitan mood. For conferences, events and receptions, there are four separate meeting rooms, including the Guerreschi Room, adorned with original print reproductions of artist Giuseppe Guerreschi’s etchings, and the One World Room, equipped with the most advanced communication, business and light systems available. The 44 bedrooms, spread over seven levels, are divided into four categories. With their round beds, bright colours and bold furniture, Circle Rooms evoke 60s glamour, while the open, loft-style Junior Suites provide a very modern home for the Inada Shiatsu chairs, private business centres and Dolby Surround Sound systems they house. Un concept unico al mondo quello del One. Gli spazi comuni sono tutti dedicati al benessere psico-fisico. Lo spazio della hall è stato sottratto da un fitness club di ultima generazione frequentato da gente top profile in larga maggioranza abitanti della città . Bella gente e belle donne. Già a partire dalla musica di ambiente si ha la sensazione di essere stati catapultati con forza in una dimensione cosmopolita per viaggiatori del mondo che amano la parte autentica e originale della vita. Un esperienza unica quella del One che riproverei volentieri. La tipologia della clientela è in perfetta sintonia con l'ambiente. Non consigliato a famiglie con bambini. |
